In the latest news for a project at 2500 76th Avenue, development permits have been filed, allowing for the progression of the project to its next stage and eventual construction. The large-scale project in the Eastmont neighborhood of Oakland was first reported on by SF YIMBY in August of last year. Since then, the project has seen rapid progress towards approvals, with various permits being filed this year.

The five-story project is being developed by Eden Housing and Black Cultural Zone Community Development Corporation with design partners at BAR architects & Interiors and A Clark Architecture assisting in both layout and aesthetics. The final building will rise 68 feet tall, clad in brown, white, and grey exterior paneling.

The project consists of 91 units of affordable senior housing, divided into 90 units of tenant housing and one manager unit on site. The project also allocates some of its ground floor space for a commercial area operated by the Black Cultural Zone. The entire building is to be 100% affordable, and the partnership with BCZ aims to bring sustainable commercial options to the community.

Parking options will include 34 car parking spaces and additional space for bicycles. The building’s location is accessible to some neighborhood parks and commercial areas by walking, but potential residents would be mostly vehicle or bus-reliant for transportation.
