New building permits have been filed for the Alchemist Public Market at 341 North 10th Street in the Railyards neighborhood of Sacramento. The application looks to add four structures with a mix of office space, retail, and kitchens to the property. Local non-profit Alchemist Community Development Corporation is responsible for the application.
There will be four single-story buildings of varying sizes. Building A will be the largest, spanning 5,750 square feet with a kitchen, cafe, and retail space. Building B will feature office space across 2,750 square feet. The remaining two structures are described as identically designed “Food Pods”, each spanning 480 square feet with two small kitchens.

Alchemist CDC is a 2004-founded non-profit with a mission to provide food and community to neighborhoods across the Sacramento region. The following statement was shared by the team regarding their plans at 341 North 10th Street:
The Alchemist team has extensive experience assisting food entrepreneurs who face systemic barriers, making farmers’ markets accessible to low-income households, and empowering neighborhoods to build community assets through the transformation of vacant spaces. Building on this expertise, Alchemist CDC is developing the Alchemist Public Market (APM), a self-sustaining, place-based infill project that brings these three programs together.
The property is located at the intersection of North 10th Street and North D Street, close to Richards Boulevard and a few blocks away from the riverside Township Nine master plan.

In May 2023, the project received an $8.1 million award from the CERF Economic Development Pilot Program. Dave Bruss will be the construction manager. Construction is expected to start later this year, with completion as early as next summer. According to the application, work is estimated to cost over $8 million, a figure not inclusive of all development costs.

Cool! Love seeing movement on Railyard projects!
It is near the Railyards but not actually in it. It is several large city blocks away from the Railyards on a street of mainly light industrial buildings.
