Construction has topped out with facade installation well underway for an eight-story apartment complex at 335 3rd Street in Oakland’s waterfront neighborhood. The project was first reported on by SF YIMBY in 2021, and since then, it has achieved a series of milestones as it now nears completion. RAD Urban is responsible for the development of the property.
Previous building renderings show a facade clad in aluminum panels with floor-to-ceiling windows; however, more recent images of the construction indicate a possible revision in design. The main change in the design is the expansion of the number of copper colored panels on the exterior, which had previously been consolidated around the base of the structure only. However, work is still underway.

Once finished, the eight-story apartment building will consist of 38 units, yielding 34,870 square feet of residential space. All of the apartments are to be one-bedrooms, including three affordable units. The units will be divided among the floors, with three on the first and five on each of the remaining seven levels. Additionally, the building design boasts a 1,050 square foot backyard patio. The exact timeline for completion has not been made public, but as the building nears completion, more information should be forthcoming.
The building’s location in Jack London Square will give future residents great access to walkable shops and restaurants, with nearby transit in the form of BART and the SF Bay Ferry.
