Preliminary permits have been filed for new housing at 1182 Palou Avenue in Hunters Point, San Francisco. The project would add a two-story addition to the existing Eastlake-style Victorian home, alongside the construction of a four-story backyard infill. David Foster of SVC Corporation is listed as the project applicant.

Plans for the site will result in eight apartments split evenly between two buildings. The front structure will retain much of the existing historic house, with a two-story addition setback from the sidewalk. Unit types will vary with two one-bedrooms, one two-bedroom, and five three-bedroom units. Parking will be included for ten bicycles.
The project architect is not specified. Illustrations show that the new construction will be wrapped in wood siding to match the aesthetics of the historic building.

The narrow 0.06-acre property is located along Palou Avenue between Ingalls Street and Griffith Street, four blocks away from the 3rd Street Lightrail Station. The estimated cost and timeline for construction have yet to be shared.

Blaaargh. Is this what passes for preservation in San Francisco these days?
