Construction has started on a new affordable housing complex at 825 Drake Avenue in Marin City, Marin County. The Crews are expecting the installation of modular building sections to last until mid-February on the development that will eventually contain 42 apartments. The Pacific Companies is responsible for the application.
Once complete, the 60-foot-tall structure will yield around 47,660 square feet, with 41,800 square feet for housing and 1,800 square feet of amenities. Parking will be included for 45 cars and 30 bicycles. Unit types will vary with two one-bedrooms, 32 two-bedrooms, and eight three-bedrooms.

Orange County-based AO is the architecture firm responsible for the design. The wood-frame structure will feature a bare facade clad with a handful of Hardie board cement textures and shingle roofing.
The property is located along Drake Avenue, close to the Marin Gateway retail center. Future residents will be around 30 minutes away from San Francisco via Golden Gate Transit.
Crews started installation on Thursday, with modular installation expected to be finished in mid-February. The opening date has not yet been announced.
