The San Mateo Planning Commission has approved plans for a sprawling project, dubbed Bayshore Commons, at 1650-1720 South Amphlett Boulevard. The plans look to replace a seven-building office campus with 256 units, split between townhomes and single-family homes. Andy Beck, Vice President of development at Link Logistics, a Texas-based real estate firm, is listed as the project application filing through B9 Sequoia Bayshore Owner LP.

Demolition will be required for all seven three-story office buildings across the 14.5-acre property. The full build-out will deliver 256 units, split between 64 single-family homes and 192 townhomes across 31 structures. Parking will be included for 567 cars and 328 bicycles.

There will be 38 affordable units, including 9 single-family homes and 29 townhomes. The affordable housing allows the applicant to invoke Senate Bill 330 and the State Density Bonus Law to streamline the approval process and increase residential capacity.

Dahlin Group is responsible for the design, with Jett overseeing the landscape architecture. Illustrations show a similar contemporary aesthetic across Bayshore Commons, with a mix of brick veneer, cement board & batten siding, stucco, and wood panels. The designs include a mix of farmhouse-style

The roughly 14.5-acre property is located between South Amphlett Boulevard and South Grant Street, less than ten minutes from a Trader Joe’s grocery store on foot and less than twenty minutes away from the Hayward Park Caltrain Station.

The estimated cost and timeline for construction have yet to be shared.
