Permits have been filed seeking the approval of a senior housing project at 2125 Telegraph Avenue in Downtown Oakland. The project proposal includes the development of an eight-story housing complex offering 100% affordable units to seniors.
Mercy Housing is the project developer. Gensler is responsible for the design concepts. PGAdesign is responsible for landscape architecture.
The project will bring 97 100% residential units into an eight-story apartment complex. The building will yield a total residential built-up area spanning 39,150 square feet. The complex will offer a courtyard and a rooftop terrace. The ground floor will house the property management office, supportive offices, community room, kitchen, laundry, and bicycle parking space.
The building facade will rise to a height of 85 feet. Renderings reveal exterior finished in red brick and white stone with construction in composite fiber cement. Black-painted aluminum fins frame both the windows and the white stucco-clad massing. The ground level, in contrast, is wrapped with a curtainwall system.
The project has moved forward as preliminary applications were filed early in 2021. Revised plans have been submitted pending approvals from City Planning Commission. The estimated construction timeline has not been announced yet.
