Building permits have been issued for a residential project at 335 3rd Street in Jack London District, Oakland. The project proposal includes the construction of new condominiums for a proposed eight-story multi-family development on the site. The project is slated to replace a surface parking lot on the site.
RAD Urban is responsible for the development.

The project site spans an area of 6,000 square feet. Named R2, the eight-story apartment building will consist of 38 houses. The building will yield 34,870 square feet of residential space utilized for 38 apartments, all of which are one-bedrooms. The first floor will include three houses, with the remaining seven levels offering five. The primary amenity is a landscaped 1,050 square foot backyard patio.
Three residences will be marketed as affordable housing available to households making up to 50% of the area’s median income.

The building will rise to a height of 93 feet, spanning an area of 4,050 square feet. Renderings reveal a facade clad in aluminum panels with floor-to-ceiling windows. The bottom two levels are wrapped with a rust color panel, while the top six floors are clad with black and white panels. At the street level, the project will include a planter to provide greenery and some privacy for the three ground-level residences.
The cost of construction is estimated at $4 million. A groundbreaking or completion date has not been announced.

Looks pretty rad for RAD Urban. I guess that blue facade relates somewhat to its neighboring architecture, but looks more LA than Oakland.
Looks a bit gimmicky. But I guess it does add a bit of distinction relative to the other boxy residential developments in JLS.

Nice to see some Condo’s being put in the mix in JLS. A lot of apartments in the past few years. There are still buyers out there who want to be in urban areas in secure, modern buildings.
