Design review permits have been filed for the seven-story mixed-use development of 1116 18th Street in Midtown Sacramento, between Kayak Alley and L Street. The construction will be an infill-project to bring 25 new apartments, 3,490 square feet for a restaurant, and 2,825 square feet of offices. SKK Developments is behind the proposal.

C2K Architecture, also involved with the 1.8 million square foot 280 Woz Way and 19-story 8 Almaden Boulevard projects in San Jose, is responsible for the design. The structure will feature sand-color brick and stucco facades above two floors of dark black brick. The firm writes, “the cornice at the top of the building’s ‘base’ establishes a building datum line which relates to the roofline of the adjacent retail to the south.”

The development will be watched closely by the development firm, not least because the structure is direct across from the firm’s offices at 1121 18th Street.

Currently occupied by an automotive repair shop, the site is just a couple blocks away from the neighborhood border with Downtown Sacramento, divided by three-lane one-way 16th Street Lincoln Highway. The city’s central California State Capitol Park is just three blocks away, with the Victorian-style World Peace Rose garden as the closest feature.

Construction is expected to begin by the third quarter of 2021, with completion expected in 2023.

  1. I think you mean 1116 18th Street, not 8th Street.
