New building permits have been filed for the construction of a new four-story center for the Jewish Family and Children’s Services Holocaust Center at 2245 Post Street in the Lower Pacific Heights, San Francisco. The complex will serve as a future headquarters for the non-profit social service organization, alongside a ground-floor exhibition, archives, a Holocaust library, and meeting spaces. JFCS is listed as the property owner.

Karin Payson Architecture + Design is the project architect, working with Scott Lewis Landscape Architecture. The facade will be clad with porcelain tiles overlooking Post Street, with sidewalls wrapped in stucco. The 54-foot-tall structure is expected to yield around 34,810 square feet, with parking for 18 bicycles.
The application requires merging two lots at 2245 and 2255 Post Street. Public records show the property at 2255 Post Street last sold in 2024 for $1.5 million.

Demolition will be required for the existing structure, built in 1965 and currently occupied by JFCS. Construction is expected to last around 20 months from groundbreaking to completion, with work starting as early as November 2026. According to the application, construction is anticipated to cost around $50 million.

Such a dull, low-vibe, uninspired & pedestrian design for a very good social services organization & new Holocaust library.
It’s in disguise.
