Groundbreaking for Cherry Street Commons Affordable Housing in San Carlos, San Mateo County

Construction has started for Cherry Street Commons, a new five-story affordable housing complex at 1232-1244 Cherry Street in San Carlos, San Mateo County. The development is expected to bring nearly three dozen units for low-income families, developed by the joint partnership of Eden Housing and HIP Housing. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by the project team alongside Mayor Sara McDowell, Congressman Kevin Mullen, State Senator Josh Becker, and Assemblymember Diane Papan.

Apartments Approved At 1244 Cherry Street In San Carlos

A new housing project has been approved for construction at 1244 Cherry Street in San Carlos. The project proposal includes the development of a five-story apartment complex offering affordable homes for rent. The onsite office structure and the remaining housing units will be demolished. Nonprofits HIP Housing and Eden Housing have teamed to form Cherry Street Commons as the project developers.

The project, named Redwood LIFE: Evolve, will reshape the 1990s-era complex with taller office buildings, minimal surface parking, and a heavy emphasis on landscaping and community amenities. HOK is responsible for the design.
