A New Six Story Building On 2976 Mission Street, San Francisco

A new six-story building will be constructed on 2976 Mission Street, in San Francisco’s Mission District, creating eight new residential units. The proposal includes partial demolition and new construction of a mixed-use building with commercial space on the ground floor. The new structure will make adaptive reuse of the existing two-story facade. Elevation Architects is managing the project.

The building is not a historical resource, but the project calls for the preservation and reuse of the Victorian era Mission Street facade and the new building set back above to preserve the street front.

The existing two-story wood-frame building will be demolished, except, for the two-story street frontage facing mission street. Due to the demolition of the one unit, the project requires a Conditional Use Authorization, as noted in section 317.

No parking is included in the new building. On the ground floor, commercial space is provided and vertical circulation, utility, and storage areas.

The property is located in the vibrant Mission District; on the Mission Street at 26th Street, two blocks from the 24th Street BART Station.
An estimated completion date has not been announced.

  1. I agree… this one particular building is, obviously, nothing special; and particularly on a major street like Mission, it needs to give way to something denser. But on a larger basis, I do want to make sure that the city’s history is preserved, and that decades from now people will still be able to see examples of 19th century streetscapes (and visualize how the city used to be). Why would anyone write a article on that ?

  2. The 6 Trinity glass statues.
Does anybody have any clue to the artist or manufacturer of these beautiful statues? And what is it priced at for each?
