Permits have been filed seeking the approval of a new multi-family residential development at 1526 Powell Street in Russian Hill, San Francisco. The project proposal includes the development of a six-story apartment building above an existing two-story industrial building.
JS Sullivan Development is responsible for the project. RG Architecture is responsible for the design concepts.
The property site is a parcel spanning an area of 5,257 square feet. The proposal intends to preserve the existing facade for John J. Delucchi Street Metal Works and add twenty apartments into the residential building. The proposal requests partial demolition of the existing property and excavation eight feet deep. The building will also include commercial space spanning an area of 1,166 square feet on the ground floor. Six vehicular parking spaces will also be designed on the site.
The facade along Powell Street will be preserved. The new construction will rise to a height of 67 feet.
The new apartment building will be located just a block north of Washington Square. Chinatown and the Financial District are all within walking distance, with MUNI bus stations along Columbus Avenue, Broadway, and Pacific Avenue crisscrossing the city. The Powell Street BART Station is 15 minutes away by bus.
