A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held today to announce the opening of Francisco Park in Russian Hill, San Francisco. The proposed park is on the site of the old Francisco Reservoir. Mayor London Breed along with Supervisor Catherine Stefani and Recreation and Parks General Manager Phil Ginsburg and the residents of the city will be celebrating the triumphant moment at 11 AM today.
Cahill Construction is on the project construction team, while Earthscape is responsible for the designs.
The Francisco Park Conservancy raised over $27.5 million of private funds to transform the abandoned reservoir into a glorious 4.5 acre-park.
Francisco Park Conservancy is inviting the residents for the park’s first public weekend on Saturday, April 30. From 10 AM, the park will be hosting a few activities, and community gatherings, providing wayfaring to the new visitors. The Francisco Reservoir is a public open space spanning a stunning park with expansive bay views on a 4.5-acre site.
The Francisco Reservoir is in Supervisorial District 2 and overlooks the northern shores of San Francisco. To the south are Russian Hill and Lombard Street. To the north are Aquatic Park and Ghirardelli Square. To the west is Larkin Street and to the east is Hyde Street.
