Phoenix Irish Pub has closed with plans to replace it with a six-story residential infill at 811 Valencia Street in San Francisco’s Mission District. The 18-unit project has already been issued demolition and new building permits by the city’s Planning Department, with construction expected to start soon this year. SIA Consulting will be responsible for development and design.
The 64-foot tall structure will yield around 7,180 square feet with 4,570 square feet for housing, 1,780 square feet for circulation, and 560 square feet for retail. Parking will be included for 20 bicycles. Amenity spaces will include the landscaped rear yard with planters and the rooftop deck.
The project has a straightforward infill design by SIA Consulting, with bay windows facing Valencia and the rear yard. Facade materials will include horizontal wood siding and stucco.
The existing single-story commercial building was constructed in 1959. Phoenix Irish Pub has been open on Valencia Street since 2001. Its last day was February 12th for Super Bowl Sunday celebrations. City records show the property last sold in May of 2008 for $1.475 million. Eugene Power is the property owner, operating through Phoenix Irish Bar LLC. Construction is expected to cost over a million dollars, lasting around 12 to 18 months.
Future residents at 811 Valencia Street will be across from Mission Playground, two blocks from Mission Dolores Park, and ten minutes away from the 16th Street BART Station.

construction to cost just over a million? who are these builders amd why cant the SFBOS find constructions rates this low?
Great the more housing is being made in a transit ridge area. Also good that you include bicycle parking.
Good. These single story commercial buildings are a poor use of land and our best opportunity to build more housing. Keep demolishing them and replacing them with 6-10 story buildings. A new business will have a chance to start its history.
Funny how the comments criticizing this eyesore keep getting taken down.
I had a million dollar view now I just see boring architecture. This project can crumble for all I care
