The City of Santa Clara and Irvine Company are scheduled to hold a community meeting tonight to review the residential redevelopment of a 25-acre office park at 2518 Mission College Boulevard. The team is pursuing plans to construct 1,792 apartments within the Freedom Circle Focus Area plan. The event will occur at The Garage, a co-working space within Santa Clara Square, a nearby mixed-use development opened in 2022 by Irvine Company.

The proposal for 2518 Mission College Boulevard will reshape the 25.74-acre parcel with five five-story podium-style apartments. Full build-out will yield around 2.85 million square feet of floor area across the site, with 1.75 million square feet of housing, 1.09 million square feet of parking, 16,800 square feet of amenities, and 3,500 square feet of ground-level retail. Parking will be included for 2,445 cars. Apartment types will vary, with 511 studios, 628 one-bedrooms, and 653 two-bedrooms.

MVE + Partners is responsible for the design. Exterior elevations and site maps published by Santa Clara show the large garages wrapped with historicized European facade treatment with red tile roofing, awnings, and articulated setbacks. BKF is consulting on civil engineering for the project.

EPTDesign is responsible for landscape architecture. A site map shows that the site will feature a network of footpaths and an internal road that will provide a range of outdoor amenities for the public and residents. The southern tip of the project will feature a larger public plaza dominated by a large lawn, sports courts, and a kid’s playground.

The estimated cost and timeline for construction have yet to be shared. The 25.7-acre office park is located in the center of the Freedom Circle Drive loop. The property is close to the Great America amusement park, the Mission College campus, Intel Cororation’s headquarters, and south of Levi’s Stadium.

On the eastern section of the area plan, between Freedom Circle and San Tomas Aquino Creek Trail, Cerberus Capital Management is the property owner of a 13.3-acre vacant lot at 3905 Freedom Circle with approved entitlements for a 1,075-unit masterplan. In October of last year, Cerberus purchased the site and entitlement plans from Greystar for $50 million.

Community Meeting is scheduled to start tonight, October 16th, at 6 PM. The event will be held at The Garage in Santa Clara Square, a co-working space within the Santa Clara Square mixed-use master plan developed by Irvine Company.   1. 1800 apartments. Much needed and long overdue for this area, where offices are 70% vacant.

    Frankly, even Great America park should be shut down and relocated (or just shut down). It takes up too much land, and is closed for 8 months out the year anyway. Such parks are obsolete in the modern era.
