New building permits have been filed for the Mary Avenue affordable housing proposal in Cupertino, Santa Clara County. The proposal looks to replace street parking with 40 apartments across two narrow buildings. Charities Housing is responsible for the application.

The master plan will include two structures yielding 32,250 square feet. The 40 apartments will include three studios, 22 one-bedrooms, 14 two-bedrooms, and one three-bedroom dwelling unit. Parking will be included for 22 cars and 16 bicycles with a surface parking lot.
Palo Alto-based Ko Architects is responsible for the design. Each structure will feature a variety of facade materials and variations to visually break apart the structure into distinct parts. Exterior materials will include concrete, metal panels, wood siding, and stucco.

Future residents will be close to Cupertino Memorial Park and the De Anza College campus across Stevens Creek Boulevard. According to the project website, construction is estimated to start by November next year, with completion as early as 2028. Financing is expected to be secured next June.
