Super Micro Computer has filed detailed plans for a new tech hub at 550 East Brokaw Road in north San Jose, Santa Clara County. The company first got involved with the property last October and purchased the site from Bay West Development this February for $80 million. The plans now will replace the former Fry’s Electronics store with an office and manufacturing complex.

The latest proposal retains the existing big-box retail store and the Mayan Temple-inspired facade. Construction will produce over 300,000 square feet of commercial space, with potential uses to include manufacturing, offices, and warehousing.
Arc Tec is responsible for the design. Illustrations published by George Avalos for the Bay Area News Group show a postmodern-style office complex with an imposing porte-cochère with branding facing the next-door highway. The 19.7-acre property is located along Brokaw Road next to Highway 880, by Coyote Creek, and over a mile east of the San Jose International Airport.
Before the involvement of Supermicro, Bay West Development had been pursuing Gensler-designed plans for a massive commercial development with nearly two million square feet of office space and two garages surrounded by a publicly accessible landscaping scheme.

Super Micro Computer is a multi-billion dollar San Jose-based information technology company founded in 1993. The estimated cost and timeline for construction have yet to be shared.
