At last Wednesday’s meeting, San Jose’s Planning Commission approved the development plan of a 13.68-acre site at 2256 Junction Avenue in North San Jose. The original project plans brought by Duke Realty and Kimley Horn engineering and design consultants were approved in September of 2021, but this latest site-plan approval will allow the project to move forward under Prologis, with the demolition of the existing 141,510-square-foot industrial building to be replaced with the new 276,030-square-foot building.

The main recommendation of SJ Planning Commission was to consider the Project Mitigated Negative Declaration from 2021 and ensure development in accordance with CEQA. Since the preexisting industrial property is being replaced with another industrial, the development avoids some of the hoops and expenses of building commercial or residential, but the new building’s construction as well as long-term use must still comply with environmental standards set by the state.
