The San Francisco Planning Commission is scheduled to review plans tonight for the massive Freedom West 2.0 master plan. The city has published the Draft Environmental Impact Report, which provides insight into the proposal to replace an existing affordable housing neighborhood with more than two thousand apartments, including replacement units for existing residents. MacFarlane Partners is the project applicant, working with Avanath Capital Management.

The San Jose Planning Commission is scheduled to review plans tonight for an expanded preschool operated by San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin in the Japantown neighborhood. The project would span well over an acre across several lots at 639-645 North Fifth Street and 620-642 North Fourth Street. The Buddhist church is responsible for the application.

Zoning Permits Requested For 12,000-seat Railyards Soccer Stadium, Sacramento

Zoning permits have been requested for the proposed 12,000-seat stadium for the Sacramento Republic FC to be built at 11 7th Street, in the Railyards Special Planning District of Sacramento. The application comes just months ahead of the expected groundbreaking for a new entertainment venue in the state capital. Kansas City-based Manica is the design architect.

At last Wednesday’s meeting, San Jose’s Planning Commission approved the development plan of a 13.68-acre site at 2256 Junction Avenue in North San Jose. The original project plans brought by Duke Realty and Kimley Horn engineering and design consultants were approved in September of 2021, but this latest site-plan approval will allow the project to move forward

Plans for First Building Filed in Freedom West 2.0 Mega-Development, San Francisco

Details plans have been published for the first structure within the Freedom West 2.0 masterplan in San Francisco’s Fillmore District. The seven-story proposal will bring over a hundred units of affordable senior housing to the corner site at 880 McAllister Street. MacFarlane Partners is the project applicant, working with Avanath Capital Management.

New renderings have been published for the proposed multi-structure Kaiser Permanente medical campus at 105 Bercut Drive in the Southern Pacific neighborhood of Sacramento. The proposal will bring a 310-bed hospital, energy center, and support parking, with construction starting as early as this year. SmithGroup is the design and landscape architect.

Funding Milestone Reached for Redevelopment of Freedom West, San Francisco

A new funding milestone has been announced for Freedom West 2.0, a master plan to right the wrongs of 20th-century urban redevelopment in San Francisco’s Fillmore District. The $27 million secured to date comes a month after a new state bill has created a new pathway to finance the project. The development team includes MacFarlane Partners and Avanath Capital Management.

Environmental Study Starts for 26-Story Tower in Downtown Berkeley

Berkeley is starting the environmental review process for the Hub, a 26-story residential tower at 2128 Oxford Street in Downtown Berkeley, Alameda County. The proposal is one of the tallest in the city’s development pipeline, with 485 student-oriented rental units overlooking the western edge of UC Berkeley’s campus. Core Spaces is the project developer.
