Updated designs have been submitted for the affordable housing project at 245 West Weddell Drive in Sunnyvale, Santa Clara County. The proposal aims to replace a 32-unit apartment complex with 93 dwellings, while rehabilitating an additional 30-unit complex. Parkview Apartment Association is responsible for the development.
Demolition will be required for a 32-unit apartment complex on the northwest half of the parcel, while the 30 units in Parkview East and West will be rehabilitated. Construction will add 93 more units, increasing the residential capacity of the 1.72-acre parcel up to 123 units of affordable housing.

The New Orchard Gardens apartment will occupy half of the lot, with some surface parking to remain in front of the existing Parkview East and West buildings. The space between each building will be decorated with a landscaped pathway. The pathways and podium-top courtyard will be furnished with a mix of cast-in-place concrete planters, outdoor furniture, and permeable paver paths.
Architects FORA is responsible for the design. The podium-style apartment complex will be visually broken up with a busy mix of facade articulation and color variation. The exterior will be wrapped with cement plaster and fiber cement rain panels. The ground floor will be established with solid-looking exposed concrete walls.

The property is located across from Highway 101 in the heart of a sprawling residential neighborhood. The site is close to the Orchard Gardens Park and half a mile from the Seven Seas Park. The nearest grocery store is over a mile away at Tasman Drive and Fair Oaks Avenue.
The estimated cost and timeline for construction have yet to be shared.
