New affordable housing has officially opened at 2310 Calle Del Mundo Drive in the Tasman East neighborhood of Santa Clara. The grand opening ceremony was held yesterday to celebrate the 151-unit complex, named Mainline North, serving very-low and low-income residents. USA Properties Fund and The Pinyon Group are jointly responsible for the development.

The 85-foot-tall structure spans roughly 162,000 square feet, including 126,700 square feet of housing, and 30,400 square feet for the 126-car garage. Previous plans show apartment sizes would vary with 88 studios, 36 one-bedrooms, 19 two-bedrooms, and three three-bedrooms. Residential amenities will include a business center, clubhouse, community room, fitness center, recreation room, and rooftop deck. BAR Architects & Interiors is responsible for the design. The complex is wrapped in a mix of painted cement plaster, concrete masonry blocks, and metal panels

Construction for Mainline North cost around $86 million, with financing and planning achieved through a public-private partnership. Partners included the City of Santa Clara, Housing Trust Silicon Valley, CalHFA, Google, and Bank of America. The development will be deed-restricted to households earning between 30% and 70% of the area’s median income. Rents will range from $1,000 to $2,500 per month for a range of studios to three-bedrooms.

Noni Ramos, CEO of Housing Trust Silicon Valley, said in a public statement, “This development demonstrates the power of public-private collaboration to create tangible results – safe, stable homes and stronger communities. Housing Trust remains committed to expanding access to affordable housing and opportunity across the region.”

“The grand opening of Mainline North is a milestone for our city,” said Santa Clara Mayor Lisa Gillmor. “Affordable housing is essential to keeping our community inclusive and vibrant, and we are proud to partner in bringing this development to life. This project not only provides high-quality homes for working families but also contributes to building a future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”

The 0.77-acre property is located within the Tasman East Specific Plan, an active master plan comprising around a dozen projects with around 4,500 units by a few developers, in various stages of planning or construction. Most notably, the neighborhood includes the current tallest building in Santa Clara, 2300 Dalle De Luna.
