Construction has finished for Hayden at 815 Old County Road in Belmont, San Mateo County. The five-story building, which has 177 apartments, is now leasing a block away from the city’s Caltrain station. Carmel Partners is the project developer, and Greystar is responsible for property management.

The 60-foot-tall structure will yield around a quarter million square feet, including 125,900 square feet of housing and parking for 200 cars in the basement and at ground level. Residential amenities will include a second-floor pool deck, clubroom, and fifth-floor lounge. PYATOK is responsible for the design, and Jett is responsible for the landscape architecture. The exterior is clad with board-formed concrete, fiber cement, and stucco.
Construction replaced the 2016-closed Belmont Iceland ice skating rink, a block from Ralston Avenue and close to Nesbit Elementary School. Crews started in 2021 with excavation.

The 1.74-acre property is a few blocks from Artisan Crossing at 1325 Old County Road, where Windy Hill Property Ventures finished work on a similar four-story apartment complex with 250 units.

It is nice to finally see multifamily apartment construction in Belmont.
Many more apartment complexes in Belmont are needed, to begin to address the housing shortage.
Anyone working here or in the vicinity, should be able to find housing!!
It is just a mile from Oracle and other employers in that vicinity, and near CalTrain. It should have been built 30 years ago. But better late than never.
The State is super worried about CalTrain going bust.
Yes, we need more housing, but the people in those units need diverse recreational opportunities for a good quality of life. We have lost nearly all of the ice rinks in SM County and investing in new facilities makes will never be financially attractive given astronomical property values.
Note that the reason the rink “closed” was that the developer bought the property. They then kept it closed for several years prior to starting construction.
Ice skating is not important for commuters seeking a rental in a convenient location.
Cal-train has been bust for decades.
