Plans are moving forward for a new student housing infill at 535 East Santa Clara Street in San Jose, Santa Clara County. The proposal is looking to add a six-story development with over a hundred bedrooms, less than ten minutes away from the San Jose State University Campus. Tripalink Real Estate is the project developer.
Preliminary plans for the site were filed in mid-2023, requesting a preliminary review for the six-story infill with 41 units. The student-oriented project will offer larger apartments, with a total of 147 bedrooms across the 41 residences. VTBS Architects is responsible for the design. Permits were approved in March 2025, and Tripalink purchased the lot on August 25th for $2.9 million.

The 0.44-acre property is located along Santa Clara Street between 11th and 12th Street, close to SJSU and just a few blocks from the rising Hawthorn Senior Housing infill at 715 East Saint John Street.
Demolition will be required for the now-empty commercial structure, once occupied by the Vietnamese restaurant, Vung Tau. The estimated cost and timeline for construction have yet to be established.
