Hotel-to-Dorm Conversion Complete at Spartan Village for San Jose State University

San Jose State University has opened the hotel-to-dorm conversion of Spartan Village on The Paseo, a former hotel located at 184 South Market Street in Downtown San Jose. The 13-story building was transformed from being the southern tower in the Signia by Hilton hotel complex, formerly The Fairmont San Jose, into a nearly 700-bed student housing addition just west of the SJSU campus. The over $100 million project was led by Throckmorton Partners.

Construction Nears Topping Out for 525 East Santa Clara Street, Naglee Park, San Jose

Construction is underway for the new student housing project at 525 East Santa Clara Street, across from the Naglee Park neighborhood in San Jose. The complex will soon add 86 new units and 11,870 square feet of commercial space to the San Jose State University market. San Mateo-based Horizon Real Properties Holdings is responsible for the development, dubbed ‘Sparta’ after the local University’s sports teams.

New Renderings for SJSU’s Spartan Heights at 100 North 4th Street, Downtown San Jose

Spartan heights, the proposed twenty-three story dormitory tower at 117 North 5th Street in Downtown San Jose is making its way through the city government. This month, the city moved to rezone the lot from CG commercial general zoning to the downtown primary commercial zoning district. The dormitory tower is slated to be built one block from MIRO, the city’s current tallest structure. The developers, Republic Urban, are hoping to capture housing demand from San Jose State University.
