For the last twelve days of 2025, SFYIMBY will continue our tradition of reflecting on the biggest stories we’ve covered each month across the region. This November saw a range of stories, including new housing in The Presidio, demolition of a funeral home in Lower Nob Hill, and a new frontrunner in the unofficial race for the tallest building in Berkeley. California Forever revealed its plan to expand the existing Suisun City municipality with its controversial planned city. However, the biggest stories came from Align Real Estate, with plans published this month to redevelop Safeways in Bernal Heights, the Fillmore District, and the Outer Richmond.

SFYIMBY Year in Review: October 2025

For the last twelve days of 2025, SFYIMBY will continue our tradition of reflecting on the biggest stories we’ve covered each month across the region. October started with a controversial story we broke about developing the only commercial retail with housing on Bay Farm Island, Alameda. We then covered ribbon cutting events for affordable housing projects in Civic Center, Mission Bay, Potrero Hill, and West Oakland. In Berkeley, we documented demolition progress at 2140 University Avenue and 2300 Ellsworth Street, and lastly, plans for a new office tower in San Francisco were approved.

SFYIMBY Year in Review: August 2025

For the last twelve days of 2025, SFYIMBY will reflect on the biggest stories we’ve covered each month across the region. August of this year started with news that the Eames Institute would take over the former Birkenstock Campus in Novato, with Herzog & de Meuron overseeing the adaptive reuse. In Berkeley, the Adeline Alliance Team was selected to oversee the redevelopment of the Ashby BART Station. We also covered construction progress across the region, including two groundbreaking events in San Francisco, rising housing in Jack London Square, and demolition progress for CityView Plaza in Downtown San Jose.

For the last twelve days of 2025, SFYIMBY will reflect on the biggest stories we’ve covered each month across the region. In mid-July, we covered the current-tallest proposal in the Bay Area after Hines revealed new plans for 77 Beale Street. Demolition permits were filed for the old Mattress Factory on Market Street, and environmental documents were published for the Tanforan Mall redevelopment. We visited two construction sites in Berkeley, a waterfront Sausalito proposal gained approval, and Berkeley rejected landmarking a 139-year-old home.
