The Nova Alianca Hall in San Jose has been sold by the Portuguese marching band society to Intelli, an affiliate of the local developer, Do Van Tron. The property, located at 37 North 27th Street, is close to the prospective 28th Street Little Portugal BART Station. Though the transit connection isn’t expected to open for well over a decade, the new owner is hoping to build dozens of apartments.

The sale comes just over a month after the developer revealed plans to change the office component to housing, increasing the potential housing capacity from a few hundred to over one thousand units. Development permits have been filed seeking the approval of a new residential project proposed at 125 Kirk Avenue in San Jose. The project proposal includes the construction of 18 two-story single-family residences on a large project site. The project calls for the demolition of an existing single-family residence and accessory structures, and trees on the site. KirkAve LLC is the project owner. Hestia Development LLC is the project applicant. The Design and Development Group is responsible for the designs.
