Permits have been filed for a residential expansion at 1472 Filbert Street in San Francisco’s Russian Hill neighborhood. The project will add four new dwelling units to the site, increasing the project’s total capacity from 73 to 77. The Lightner Property Group manages the development.
The existing structure yields 51,660 square feet, producing 73 units with 166 rooms. Units range in size from studio to two-bed-one bath. The structure was built in 1927, and it sold in mid-March 2018 for $36.75 million. Construction of the four new units will not alter the building’s facade, nor will it change the ornate historic lobby at its core.
San Francisco’s Marine National Park is just seven blocks away. The northern edge of the Polk Gulch commercial corridor is one block south of the building, and San Francisco’s famous Lombard Street is five blocks to the east.
