Gensler has announced it has signed a new lease, moving its San Francisco offices from 45 Fremont Street to the Mills Building at 220 Montgomery Street in the Financial District. The recently-renovated offices offer Gensler one consecutive floor. Swig Company is the property owner.
Cory Kristoff, the Executive Vice President, Asset Management and Director of Leasing at Swig Company, said of the news, “we’re delighted that Gensler, a global leader in design in the built environment, has recognized and embraced the steps we have taken to make 220 Montgomery one of the most sustainable workplaces in one of the most environmentally-aware markets in the country.”
The firm has moved out the three-floor offices at 45 Fremont Street, spanning a larger 55,000 square feet. The firm has been in the Fremont Street offices for five years. The firm has over three hundred employees in its San Francisco offices, over a hundred in Oakland, and eighty in San Jose.
“San Francisco has been our home for 57 years,” said Hao Ko, co-Managing Director of Gensler’s San Francisco office. “It’s the founding office of Gensler and an important hub office in the firm. This new lease reflects our deep commitment to the City of San Francisco and the business community here.”
Gensler is indeed the largest architecture firm in the United States, with a revenue of $1.37 billion last year, according to the Architectural Record, and nearly seven thousand employees in 52 offices worldwide.
The new offices in 220 Montgomery are expected to open by the summer of next year.
