Construction has topped out for a new eight-story life sciences development and parking garage at 567 Airport Boulevard inside the Bay Park Plaza in Burlingame, San Mateo County. The project has reshaped a 12.8-acre property along the bayside across from the new Gensler-designed Meta offices. Lane Partners is the project developer.
The 144-foot tall structure will average roughly 30,000 square feet per floor, with a sum of 241,680 square feet. The addition will nearly double the office space for the Peninsula Innovation Point from 259,730 square feet to 501,410 square feet. Parking will also have a 4.5-floor parking garage spanning 317,040 square feet with a capacity for 1,520 vehicles. BKF Engineers is consulting on civil engineers.
DES Architects is responsible for building and landscape architecture. The exterior will be clad with glass and metal panels, complementing the existing structures’ arched floor plates and floor-to-ceiling windows. Facade installation has yet to start. The property will be landscaped with trees and pathways as a buffer between the three offices and the garage to the street. For employees and the public, the open space will be activated with promenades, outdoor seating, walkways, patios, and plazas.
Barings, a global investment manager, purchased the property from EverWest and Partners Group in late July 2021 for $170 million. Construction was estimated to last around 26 months, having started in early 2022 and expected to finish by March 2024. Devcon is the general contractor responsible for construction.
