A preliminary builder’s remedy application has been filed for a seven-story residential project at 741 South Winchester in San Jose, Santa Clara County. The proposal will reshape nearly three acres on the site of a former Century 24 dome theater close to Santana Row. SyRES Properties is the project applicant.
The preliminary application provides a few other details about the planned apartment complex. Illustrations revealed by George Avalos for the Bay Area News Group show a podium-style complex designed by Lowney Architecture. Of the 264 units, there will be 35 studios, 113 one-bedrooms, and 116 two-bedrooms. Around 20% will be designated as affordable. Residential amenities will include a community room, outdoor space, fitness center, and a co-working space.
The 2.97-acre property is located along Winchester Boulevard between Riddle Road and Neal Avenue. Future residents will be just ten minutes from the popular Santana Row shopping center. SyRES Properties is owned by Syufy Enterprises, which had operated many of the Century Theaters across the Bay. SyRES has also proposed a three-building residential complex to replace a now-demolished dome theater at 410 Noor Avenue in South San Francisco.
