Infill plans have been filed for a four-story residential development at 1844 Church Street in San Francisco’s historic Fairmount Heights neighborhood. The development could replace a single-family home with four apartments. TK Workshop is responsible for the application.

The 40-foot tall structure contains around 6,550 square feet, including four apartments, a single-car garage, and a rear yard. Unit sizes will vary, including a one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and two three-bedroom apartments. TK Workshop, also known as the Troy Kashanipour Architecture, is responsible for the design. While detailed illustrations have yet to be shared, the preliminary massings show a boxy residential infill with rear-facing balconies and a rooftop setback facing Church Street.

Fairmont Heights is a small hillside neighborhood between Noe Valley and Glen Park. According to the Glen Park Neighborhood History Project, Fairmount Heights is one of the oldest neighborhoods in San Francisco, with significant amounts of development occurring in the 1880s and just after the 1906 earthquake. City records show the 1892-built property last sold in 2011 for $825,000. In a 2013 historic resource evaluation, the existing structure was determined not to have any historic significance.

The narrow parcel is located along Church Street between 30th Street and Randall Street. The site is close to the city-run Upper Noe recreation center and two blocks from the Dolores Huerta Elementary School.
