Plans have been filed for an affordable housing project at 1515 I Street in the Mansion Flats neighborhood of Sacramento. The application is looking to add several dozen apartments to a vacant lot a block away from downtown. Fulcrum Property is listed as the property owner, filing through 1515 I Street Partners LP.

The proposal calls for an eight-story complex with 84 apartments, amenities, and open space. Unit types will vary, with 70 one-bedrooms and 14 two-bedrooms. Residential amenities will include a conference room, bike parking, computer lab, and multipurpose room. The complex will include a two-tiered courtyard with a children’s playground, barbecue space, and outdoor seating. Vehicular parking will be included, though the exact quantity is not specified.

The 0.86-acre property is on a block bound by I Street, Historic Alley, 15th Street, and 16th Street. Future residents will be living across from the historic Sacramento Memorial Auditorium and three blocks from the California State Capitol Park.

Construction is estimated to cost around $44.4 million. The estimated timeline for work has yet to be established.

  1. Looks like an affordable housing project that is very much needed in Sacramento. Now, let’s see if it actually ever gets built.

  2. Much needed housing in a currently dead part of downtown.
