In the last month, groundbreaking was reported for 555 Bryant Street, and SHVO held the official ceremony to start renovations on San Francisco’s most iconic landmark, the Transamerica Pyramid. The City of San Jose approved eye-catching Nabr plans, along with two other residential projects. Lastly, NX Venture revealed plans for 1998 Shhatuck Avenue as the tallest tower in Berkeley.
SOM Updates Design For 98 Franklin Street, San Francisco

December 1st: New renderings have been revealed for the residential tower at 98 Franklin Street in San Francisco’s upzoned Hub neighborhood. The new plans show the increased height and residential capacity from an agreement made by Supervisor Dean Preston and Related Companies. The proposal will create a new international school and 385 homes.
Plans For Expansion Of Synagogue At 2 Lake Street, San Francisco

December 5th:New plans have been filed to expand and renovate the Synagogue at 2 Lake Street near Presidio Terrace, San Francisco. The project would address seismic concerns and expand the religious facility for the Congregation Emanu-El, whose distinctive dome overlooks the affluent gated neighborhood. The project is being sponsored by the Congregation of Emanu-El and Equity Community Builders.
Demolition Underway At 555 Bryant Street In SoMa, San Francisco

December 6th: Demolition work is nearly complete at 555 Bryant Street, making way for a new 16-story mixed-use infill in SoMa, San Francisco. The 0.75-acre site will soon be home to 501 apartments nearby a new MUNI Central Subway station and Caltrain. Strada Investment Group is the project developer.
Official Ceremony For $400 Million Transamerica Pyramid Renovation

December 7th: SHVO, the new owner of the Transamerica Pyramid and two adjacent buildings, has started renovations of San Francisco’s iconic property with an official ceremony. Though not a traditional groundbreaking event, dirt was shoveled by many important local representatives next to Michael Shvo. Plans for renovating the 50-year-old landmark are designed by Foster + Partners.
Entitlement Extension Requested Of 3700 California Street Masterplan

December 8th: Representatives for 3700 California Street have filed a request to extend the approved entitlement for a 31-building residential redevelopment of the Sutter Health-owned medical campus in San Francisco’s Presidio Heights. The move comes after TMG and Sutter Health backed out of the redevelopment plans in May of this year. The campus was listed for sale by CBRE.
Upcoming Director’s Hearing For SoFA By Nabr In Downtown San Jose

December 13th: The plan for a three-tower development in Downtown San Jose is up for public review at a Planning Director’s Hearing tomorrow, December 14th. The meeting comes after the publication of the initial study for the residential infill. The 474-unit project is a joint development with Nabr, a new direct-to-consumer housing startup, and the established local developers at Urban Community.
New Plans Reveal 1998 Shattuck Avenue Again Tallest Proposed Tower In Berkeley

December 14th: New plans shared with YIMBY reveal that 1998 Shattuck Avenue has again become the tallest proposed tower for Downtown Berkeley, Alameda County. The 28-story project is now two floors higher, 40 feet taller, covers two additional parcels, and, most significantly, residential capacity has doubled to 599 apartments. NX Ventures is the project developer.
