Casa Roseland has officially opened at 583 West Avenue in Santa Rosa, Sonoma County. The event celebrated the opening of the five-story affordable housing infill and the new public park, Plaza Permanente. MidPen Housing and the Sonoma County Community Development Commission are jointly responsible for the project.

“This moment reflects the power of community to transform dreams into reality,” said Matthew O. Franklin, MidPen Housing President and CEO. “After years of persistence, partnership, and dedication, the Roseland community’s vision for Tierra de Rosas is coming to life. We are grateful to the leaders and advocates who helped make this day possible, and are proud to welcome residents home to Casa Roseland, where families can put down roots, build futures, and thrive.”

Van Meter Williams Pollack is responsible for the design. The complex features an array of articulation and a raised rooftop edge for the corner focal point facing Sebastopol Road. The five-story structure includes 75 apartments, ranging from one- to three-bedroom units. Residential amenities include a community room, learning center, teen room, and in-building laundry. The complex provides parking for 108 cars and 68 bicycles.

“Roseland dreamed big and held us accountable—and today, we’re seeing what happens when a community’s determination is matched by strong public partnerships and smart investment,” said Sonoma County Supervisor Chris Coursey. “The Plaza Permanente and Casa Roseland are more than housing and a park; they are building blocks of a climate friendly, equity-centered community that reflects the pride, diversity, and spirit of Roseland.”

The housing is located at the corner of West Avenue and Sebastopol, located between Dutton Avenue and McMinn Avenue. The site is around 20 minutes away from the Santa Rosa Downtown train station, and five minutes further from the city center.
