The Berkeley Design Review Committee is scheduled to review plans for 2442 Haste Street in Southside, Berkeley. The eight-story proposal looks to add 36 units to a narrow lot half a block away from Telegraph Avenue. San Ramon-based 2442 Haste Street LLC is listed as the property owner.
The 2655 Shattuck Ave project took another step forward last week when The City of Berkeley filed for a Notice of Exemption for CEQA, in accordance with the standards of Infill Development Project exemptions. Studio KDA’s updated designs were released for the project last year, but site construction has been awaiting the completion of several approvals, this exemption included.
Last week, Berkeley Moshav, the nation’s first Jewish urban cohousing complex broke ground at its site on San Pablo Ave. The four-story, mixed-use construction begins more than 10 years after the original proposal, making a historic debut for a new type of community-based housing. Urban Development + Partners has worked with Studio KDA architects and local Jewish community groups to realize this long-held dream.
New preliminary project plans have been released for a mixed-use residential complex proposed for development at 2147 San Pablo Avenue in Berkeley. The project proposal includes the construction of a new six-story mixed-use project offering spaces for residential and retail uses. The site is currently occupied by an auto-body and auto glass shop. Studio KDA is leading the application and designs.
Modified plans continue to work through the planning commission for a 23-story tower at 2115 Kittredge Street in Downtown Berkeley, Alameda County. The team is continuing to pursue an increased residential capacity for the property, with new documents suggesting the tower could extend nearly three hundred feet above street level, which would make it the second tallest residential structure in the city. Gilbane Development is responsible for the application.
