New Apartment Building Opens at 2001 Ashby Avenue in Berkeley

Resources for Community Development has opened a six-story and 87-unit project located at 2001 Ashby Avenue in South Berkeley. The project, named after Councilwoman Maudelle Miller Shirek, was first brought in 2021, with ground-breaking occurring in 2022. Delays caused the building to overshoot its projected opening date in 2024, but the project has now made it to completion, and is moving in tenants.

Despite objections from contraction unions, an application to introduce a new residential project continues to progress for a site located at 3000 Shattuck Avenue in South Berkeley, Alameda County. The project proposal includes the construction of a new 10-story development offering space for residential and commercial uses. The project site currently houses Berkeley Gas and Smog gas station. NX Ventures is the project applicant and property owner. Trachtenberg Architects is responsible for the designs. InsideOut is responsible for landscape architecture.

Meeting Thursday For 2655 Shattuck Avenue, South Berkeley

The Berkeley Design Review Committee is scheduled to review plans for an eight-story apartment complex to rise at 2655 Shattuck Avenue in South Berkeley, Alameda County. Plans for the site were first revealed in late 2023, with formal permits filed in May last year. The proposal could bring nearly a hundred units along the major thoroughfare equidistant between the Downtown and Ashby BART stations.
