Funding Milestone Reached for Redevelopment of Freedom West, San Francisco

A new funding milestone has been announced for Freedom West 2.0, a master plan to right the wrongs of 20th-century urban redevelopment in San Francisco’s Fillmore District. The $27 million secured to date comes a month after a new state bill has created a new pathway to finance the project. The development team includes MacFarlane Partners and Avanath Capital Management.

New Imagery Revealed for Senior Housing at 3135 San Pablo Avenue, West Oakland

A new preliminary application has been filed to fast-track the review for 3135 San Pablo Avenue, West Oakland. Along with a request to use Senate Bill 330, new renderings have been revealed. The six-story building will create 73 new senior dwelling units and ground-level commercial space. Satellite Affordable Housing Associates is responsible for the application as the sponsor, while Saint Mary’s Center is the property owner.

UC Regents Approve People’s Park Development in Southside, Berkeley

The UC Board of Regents has approved plans for UC Berkeley construct a $312 million mixed-housing project to replace the historically significant People’s Park in Southside, Berkeley. The L-shaped complex would take up less than half of the existing park to create housing for 1,113 university students and roughly a hundred units for extremely low income, unhoused, or formerly unhoused people. 1.7 acres of the 2.8-acre park would become landscaped open space.
