Preliminary permits have been filed for a mid-rise residential development at 2727 Haste Street in Southside, Berkeley. The project will offer student-oriented dwellings, including 154 beds across the six-story building, just three blocks away from the UC Berkeley campus. The Austin Group is the project sponsor.
Plans have been published for a potential new housing project on top of the Amoeba Music record store at 2455 Telegraph Avenue in Southside, Berkeley. The proposal would add seven floors of housing above the existing store, retaining the site’s nearly 50-year-old landmarked murals. Amoeba co-owners Dave Prinz and Marc Weinstein are jointly responsible for the development.
Construction has topped out for the new eight-story residential project at 2587 Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley’s Southside neighborhood. The student-oriented complex will provide 485 beds within 52 separate units along the retail-rich thoroughfare. Gilbane Development Company is the project developer.
The Berkeley Design Review Committee is scheduled to review plans for 2442 Haste Street in Southside, Berkeley. The eight-story proposal looks to add 36 units to a narrow lot half a block away from Telegraph Avenue. San Ramon-based 2442 Haste Street LLC is listed as the property owner.
Plans for a 23-story UC Berkeley Dorm are expected to be discussed this Wednesday in a meeting with the Finance and Capital Strategies Committee for the Regents of the University of California. The project will bring 1,625 beds and a new dining hall to 2200 Bancroft Way in Southside, Berkeley. Construction is estimated to start as early as next year and cost nearly half a billion dollars.
