The University of California at Berkeley has made clear its intention to move forward with its largest-ever student housing project. The proposed building would reach 26 stories, rising 3 more above the university’s next largest project, currently under construction at Bancroft Way and Fulton Street.
Construction is now underway for the 23-story Bancroft-Fulton Student Housing complex at 2200 Bancroft Way in Southside, Berkeley. The project is set to become the tallest building in Berkeley, surpassing a 55-year-old office building, but still shorter than the landmark Sather Tower clock tower. UC Berkeley Capital Strategies is responsible for the development.
Updated plans have been filed for a seven-story apartment complex at 2298 Durant Avenue in Southside, Berkeley. The preliminary application indicates a reduced vision for the residential infill just one block away from the UC Berkeley campus. Valiance Capital is listed as the property owner.
Formal permits have been filed for the eight-story mixed-use development at 2455 Telegraph Avenue in Southside, Berkeley. The project is looking to create 68 new apartments and a new home for the Amoeba Record Store. Amoeba co-owners Dave Prinz and Marc Weinstein are jointly responsible for the development.
Preliminary permits have been filed for a three-story residential infill at 2336 Dwight Way in Southside, Berkeley. The development will produce three units on a property currently occupied by two Victorian homes. Sunday Builders Inc. is responsible for the application.
