Plans have been filed for a new eight-story residential infill at 100 2nd Street in Oakland’s waterfront Jack London Square neighborhood. The preliminary application shows the vacant property will be transformed into 53 new homes, including affordable housing. R2 Building, the same firm responsible for the 39-story application at 2044 Franklin Street, is listed as the project developer.
Concrete has reached the 10th floor of the Helen Diller Anchor House, a mixed-use student dorm for UC Berkeley at 1921 Walnut Street in Downtown Berkeley, Alameda County. The $300 million project is rapidly approaching its 14-floor peak, with plans for 772 apartment-style bedrooms and university facilities. Morris Adjmi Architects is responsible for the design.
New renderings have been revealed for the 17-story mixed-use tower expected to rise from the California Theater at 2115 Kittredge Street in Downtown Berkeley, Alameda County. The updated plan shows how the historic facade will be preserved with a new theater for live performances capped by 218 apartments. Gilbane Development is responsible for the project.
The Oakland Planning Commission is scheduled to review reduced plans for the former Oakland Campus for the California College of Arts at 5200 Broadway in Rockridge, Alameda County. The residential capacity has been reduced from 510 to 448 units while preserving the Treadwell Estate with Macky Hall, and the Carriage House. Emerald Fund and Equity Community Builders are the project sponsors.
The official groundbreaking ceremony was held yesterday afternoon for Avia Labs, a new life sciences project at 210 Adrian Road in Millbrae, San Mateo County. Once complete, the six-story project will open up in a burgeoning district, with direct access to the Millbrae BART and Caltrain Station through an underpass. Longfellow Real Estate Partners is the project sponsor.
