New Creative Arts Building Opens on San Francisco State University Campus

For the first time in 25 years, San Francisco State University has opened a new academic building. The project includes the construction of the George and Judy Marcus Hall for the Liberal and Creative Arts Building, which is home to SFSU’s Broadcast and Electronic Communications Arts (BECA) program.

McCarthy Building Companies is the general contractor. Mark Cavagnero Associates is responsible for the design concepts. SWA Group is managing the landscape architecture. Other project participants include Forell|Elsesser Structural Engineers, CSW civil engineering, and WSP for mechanical/electrical/plumbing (MEP).

Rosewood San Francisco Announced for 550 Howard Street, SoMa, San Francisco

Hines has announced a deal with Rosewood Hotels and Resorts to occupy the hospitality portion of 550 Howard Street, a mixed-use tower set to break ground early next year in SoMa, San Francisco. Dubbed Parcel F, it is the tallest of the remaining Transbay tower parcel remaining. The 806-foot tall tower is being developed by a joint venture with Hines, Urban Pacific, and Goldman Sachs Asset Management.

Historical Landmark El Rey Theater In Mount Davidson Manor San Francisco To Be Remodeled

A Preliminary Project Assessment application has been submitted seeking the approval of two residential buildings at 1970 Ocean Avenue in Mount Davidson Manor, San Francisco. The project proposal includes the construction of the residential buildings and renovation and restoration of a theater that is landmarked as a historical site. An Art Deco piece, the El Rey Theater was designed in 1931 by JR Miller and Timothy Pflueger. The project has received an HRE report from Page & Turnbull.
Goldman Architects is managing the design concept and construction.
