The San Francisco Civic Design Review Committee is scheduled to review plans for the Transbay Block 3 park during a public meeting next Monday. The plan will create a new one-acre landscaped destination between two dense housing plans on the former temporary Transbay Bus Terminal in SoMa. The San Francisco Public Works department is the landscape architect.
New renderings have been published for the Transbay Block 2 affordable apartments in SoMa, San Francisco. The plans will create 334 new homes, split between two structures, the family and the senior housing buildings being developed respectively by Mercy Housing and the Chinatown Community Development Center.
The San Francisco Planning Department has approved rezoning Transbay Block 4 to conform with the 47-story proposal by Hines in SoMa. The 513-foot tower will exceed the 400-foot height limit for the parcel at 200 Main Street, creating 681 new homes, of which nearly half will be designated as affordable. Groundbreaking is expected by late 2023 or 2024.
New permit activity shows plans are moving ahead for the 47-story skyscraper at Transbay Block 4 in SoMa, San Francisco. Representatives for the property owner, Hines, have recently filed an amendment request to increase the lot’s height limit from 450 feet to 513 feet. The building would create hundreds of below-market-rate units, apartments, condos, and townhomes overlooking the proposed Transbay Park.
Rising 1,070 feet tall, the Salesforce Tower is the tallest building in the Bay Area, the 17th tallest in the United States, and the 91st tallest in the world. The distinctive glass-wrapped tower has been designed by one of the preeminent architects in the world, Pelli Clarke Pelli. Unsurprisingly, it remains a divisive contribution to the San Francisco skyline.
