The City of Santa Clara is starting the environmental review process for a townhome development at 1957 Pruneridge Avenue in Santa Clara, Santa Clara County. The proposal follows the former St. Mark’s Episcopal Church sale in July last year. SCS Development is the project applicant.
Renderings of the townhomes show collage-style facade treatment with three primary material types: stucco, brick, and horizontal siding. Architectural features will include the gabled roofing, setbacks, and protruding elements. The project will provide each unit with a garage, an outdoor patio, and buffer landscaping. Danielian Associates is responsible for the architecture, with Ripley Design Group involved in landscape architecture.
Construction will build 22 townhomes, with 19 market-rate units with an additional dwelling unit on the second floor and parking for three cars. The three below-market-rate houses will feature a two-car detached garage.
Demolition will be required for the vacant St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, which closed in July last year. The church was consecrated in the Summer of 1955 and served the neighborhood for around 66 years. During the environmental review process, the city will publish a Historic Review document that dives into the building’s past and the minimalist barrel-vault architectural features.
The 2.5-acre parcel is located along Pruneridge Avenue between Winchester Boulevard and Crestview Drive. Future residents will be just seven minutes from the busy Westfield Valley Fair Mall. CBG is consulting on civil engineering.
The announcement to start the Draft Environmental Impact Report, or DEIR, indicates the start of SCS’s environmental review process with CEQA. The estimated construction cost and timeline for approval have yet to be established.

Not seven minutes to walk to Valley Fair Mall? Driving seemed like 1/2 hour drive.
