SummerHill Homes has submitted preliminary plans for a new townhome-style residential complex at 90 East Tasman Drive in San Jose, Santa Clara County. The plan is the latest in a series to replace low-slung offices with housing in the South Bay. Once complete, the proposal expects to create 110 dwelling units.

SummerHill filed the preliminary application just over a week ago. The application hopes to use Senate Bill 330, known as the Housing Crisis Act of 2019. SB330 requires that a city approve a housing development that includes affordable housing if the project complies with local zoning and the state density bonus program.

The 5.1-acre property is located along East Tasman Drive between North First Street and Baypointe Parkway. Along with several other dense new apartment complexes, residents will be close to the Samsung corporate offices and the Baypointe light-rail station. Levi’s Stadium and Santa Clara’s Tasman East masterplan are just ten minutes away via transit.

The project is close to where Summerhill Homes has submitted plans for a 334-unit apartment complex at 210 Baypoint Parkway. Demolition will be required for the existing 1986-built office, currently occupied by Palmer Chiropractic Clinics. Further details about the residential project have yet to be released.
