Plans have been filed for an eight-story apartment complex at 155 Jefferson Drive between Highway 101 and the Bay Trail in Menlo Park, San Mateo County. The project will deliver nearly two hundred dwelling units to the former industrial enclave, though it does not include any commercial retail space. Texas-based developer Beam Reach is responsible for the application.

The roughly 85-foot-tall structure is expected to yield around 285,550 square feet, including 151,300 square feet for housing and roughly 82,000 square feet for the three-story podium garage. Parkingw ill be included for 200 cars and 330 bicycles. Residential amenities will be split between the ground and fourth floors. The landscaped podium-top central courtyard will be flanked by a residential clubhouse and fitness center.

KTGY is the project architect, with landscape architecture by Bionic. The articulated facade will be covered with several distinct materials, including cementitious siding, basaltine tiling, metal panels, and painted stucco. The landscaping plan includes a ring of trees and shrubbery between the structure and lot lines, and a tree-filled courtyard with a barbecue station and a spa.

The 1.38-acre property is located along Jefferson Drive on a block bound by Chrysler Drive and Constitution Drive. Future residents will find themselves in a former industrial neighborhood that’s being transformed into a mid-rise residential enclave. The area is still dominated by low-slung warehouses, a bespoke hotel, and is close to the linear Meta Park office campus.

  1. No retail at all? Seems like a little coffee shop or something on the corner would be a nice addition.
