Meeting Tomorrow For 940 Willow Street in Willow Glen, San Jose

Plans for a new seven-story apartment complex at 940 Willow Street are scheduled to be reviewed tomorrow morning during the San Jose Planning Director’s Hearing. The project is expected to add over a hundred units to the historic downtown of the Willow Glen neighborhood. Redco Development, based in San Francisco, is the project sponsor.

The 86-foot-tall structure is expected to yield approximately 162,690 square feet, including roughly 78,440 square feet of housing, 45,810 square feet of parking, and 1,630 square feet of retail. Parking will be included for 127 cars and 32 bicycles. Unit sizes will vary with 52 studios, 50 one-bedrooms, 20 two-bedrooms, and four townhouse-style three-bedroom apartments.

Studio Current is responsible for the design. Updated illustrations have been provided, though the overall design scheme remains consistent. The complex will feature a white brick base capped by darker mansard roofing-inspired stucco and wood panel-clad top floors. The complex will feature two levels of parking capped by a five-story U-shaped residential component. The podium-top third-floor courtyard will feature a small pool deck, outdoor dining space, and greenery.

The 0.8-acre property is located on the south side of Willow Street between Curtiss Avenue and Kotenberg Avenue. Future residents will be just three blocks from the retail-lined Lincoln Avenue. Both Diridon Station and Santana Row are around 25 minutes away via different bus lines.
