Foundation work is currently underway for the ten-story affordable housing complex at 825 Berryessa Station Way, San Jose, Santa Clara County. Construction officially started in June of this year, and now the crane is fully built, with some site preparation underway before foundation work begins. Affirmed Housing is the project developer.

The 10-story structure is expected to yield around 217,500 square feet, including 155,330 square feet of housing, 1,940 square feet for assembly space, 4,520 square feet for the eight-car garage, and 4,280 square feet of ground-level commercial business area. Dahlin Group is responsible for the design.
Erin Curtis, Executive Director of the California Strategic Growth Council, which is partially responsible for funding the project, said during the groundbreaking ceremony, “We’re thrilled to join our partners and the community to witness the groundbreaking of the 195-unit Berryessa development. This project demonstrates exactly what the California Strategic Growth Council and our partners are working to achieve throughout California—thriving neighborhoods with walkable, affordable communities near public transit.

The 0.8-acre property is located next to the elevated BART tracks, the VTA parking garage, and Berryessa Station Way. The site is close to the sprawling surface parking lot partially occupied by the busy San Jose Flea Market. The property, owned by the Bumb Family, is approved to be developed into a dense mixed-use district with over three thousand units of housing and offices, with the city agreeing to establish a commercial financing district to finance infrastructure improvements. The project, part of a large Berryessa Urban Village master plan, has yet to start construction.
HA Builder Group is listed as the general contractor responsible for the project. Construction started in May of this year after securing $38.5 million from the state’s Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities Program. The program is run by the California Strategic Growth Council. Completion is expected as early as Spring 2028.
