The paperwork for a new development permit was filed for 1719 86th Avenue in East Oakland. The project, designed by Kesete Kifle, includes the construction of a new two-story duplex in the rear yard portion of the lot, behind the existing single-family home. The 26-foot-tall new construction will add 2329 square feet of enclosed space to the 5320 square foot parcel.

UC Berkeley Holds Grand Opening for Expanded Engineering Center

On April 21st, The University of California at Berkeley celebrated the grand opening of the cutting-edge and newly re-envisioned Grimes Engineering Center. The formal Bechtal engineering building served as a foundation for the expanded project, a 35,500 two-story glass pavilion with a three-level open forum at its center. Skidmore Owning and Merill are responsible for the design, with PGA Design responsible for landscaping.

Zoning Worksheet Filed for Office to Residential Conversion in North Oakland

A small office building at 6355 Telegraph Avenue in the Bushrod neighborhood of North Oakland has filed initial paperwork for a partial conversion to residential apartments. The preliminary designs brought by Earthquake and Structures, INC, call for the conversion of the upper two levels into six residential units, leaving the lower floor as the original office spaces.

Hanover’s Capitol Avenue Project Breaks Ground in San Jose

A large residential project has broken ground at 905 N Capitol Avenue in the Berryessa Neighborhood of San Jose. The project, brought by Hanover Company is part of a multi-building non-contiguous development spanning Pentencia Creek Road along N Capitol Avenue. The project was first brought in 2022 but has experienced minor delays. The recent groundbreaking was for Building 1, a large apartment complex on the north side of Pentacia Creek Road. Architecture firm KTGY Architecture + Planning is responsible for the building designs.
