Plans have been filed for yet another Safeway-to-housing proposal, this time in Marin County. The eight-story proposal, first reported by Richard Halstead for the Marin Independent Journal, aims to create over three hundred residential units at 700 B Street in Downtown San Rafael, but does not include a replacement grocery store. Mill Creek Residential is the project developer.
Construction is currently underway for an eight-story apartment complex at 930 Irwin Street in San Rafael, Marin County. Crews are currently making progress on the foundation of the 210-unit development, dubbed Modera San Rafael. Mill Creek Residential and Seagull Prime Real Estate Fund are jointly responsible for the development.
Plans to add housing to 930 Irwin Street have cleared an important step towards receiving entitlements. The City of San Rafael has determined that the proposal is consistent with the existing General Plan and that further environmental review would be redundant. Mill Creek Residential is the project developer in partnership with the Seagull Prime Real Estate Fund.
Residential plans are being pursued for 95 Broadway in Fairfax, Marin County. The School Street project, also named the Modera Fairfax, could replace low-slung commercial structures with 243 homes with retail on a two-acre property in the center of town. Mill Creek Residential is the project sponsor.
The City of San Jose has assisted in purchasing a seven-story apartment complex at 787 The Alameda by Diridon Station. The city has committed to financing “not to exceed $100,000,000 of tax-exempt multifamily housing revenue bonds by the California Municipal Finance Authority” to allow Catalyst Impact Fund to purchase the building. Once complete, Catalyst will oversee converting 168 units into affordable housing.
