Crews have completed demolition of University Hall and its annex building at 2140 University Avenue in Downtown Berkeley, Alameda County. Our recent site visit shows the parcel is currently graded in preparation for the first of two phases to rise for the UC Berkeley Innovation Zone development, the six-story Bakar Labs for Energy & Materials.
Facade installation has started for the historic Resources Building at 1416 9th Street in Downtown Sacramento. The 17-story building constructed for the California Department of General Services sixty years ago, once the tallest building in Sacramento, is being remodeled with upgraded facilities and a new glassy facade.
A pre-application has been filed for an eight-story mixed-use infill at 8055 Collins Drive by the Coliseum in Oakland, Alameda County. The plans fit in the southern edge of the Coliseum Area Specific Plan, which would convert the sprawling area around the soon-to-close home to the Oakland Athletics into an urban district. Construction Resource Center led by Len Turner is listed as responsible for the application as the property owner.
The curtain-wall wrapped offices at 555 Mission Street rise to a 487-foot peak, tied as the 34th tallest building in the Bay Area planned or built. The downtown project was built between 2006 and 2008 to become the tallest commercial project in the Bay Area in the 2000s. Tishman Speyer was the project developer.
The 41st tallest skyscraper in the Bay Area built or planned is 95 Hawthorne Street, a proposed residential tower around the corner from the Moscone Center in SoMa, San Francisco. The tower rises 444 feet tall to the top floor and 461 feet to its peak. With the property’s 2007 sale and permit valuation combined, the development costs will go well over a third of a billion dollars. The Boston-based property owner, John Hancock Life Insurance Company, has partnered with Holland Partner Group as joint developers.
